We recently held an Artificial Intelligence Lunch’n’Learn, where Hazel McKenna, Program Manager at Advocare, raised a brilliant question: “Will Agentforce and AI replace us as advocates?” This question is particularly relevant as we continue to evolve and embrace new technologies. Does this latest advancement call into question our personal and professional roles? That’s the topic of this blog.
Augmentation vs Automation
Before diving into whether AI will replace humans, it’s important to define two key concepts: automation and augmentation.
- Automation – involves AI performing tasks without human intervention, like AI-powered chatbots.
- Augmentation – enhances human capabilities by working alongside us, such as analysing case notes and legal documents to give us a summary and recommended next steps.
Whether AI will replace us depends on whether it leans more towards complete automation or augmentation, or perhaps a mix of both. Regardless though, there will always be a human involved to some degree, and it might be more about their role changing to adapt to working alongside/with AI. To understand this better, let’s explore previous technologies that were once thought to make humans redundant.
Previous Technologies
As we can see, most technological revolutions start with fear; what does this change mean for humans, and will we still be relevant? However, as we adapt, we learn to embrace and live with these changes, ultimately leading to better human well-being and facilitating human flourishing. It won’t be AI that takes our jobs; it will be humans who learn to embrace and use AI to enhance their skills who will take human jobs.

With that in mind, what can you do to remain relevant in a quickly changing world?
How We Can Embrace AI

An Example Augmentation With Agentforce
Michael Lang, Managing Director at SG Partners also attended our recent Lunch’n’Learn and enquired about how Agentforce might be able to help sales people live, when they are conversing with a client/potential client.
With Einstein Sales Coach, you role play with it prior to an important meeting, and it will provide tips and hints on how to maximise the conversation based on you pitch and the data it has on the client. Further to this, you can also bring Einstein Sales Coach into a live call and it will provide live guidance as you speak with the potential client/client in real-time in the background, to help maximise the information and likelihood of success.

As we can see from this blog, human’s first instinct is usually to fear the change caused by technological advancement, but the one thing that makes humans unique is the ability to embrace and adapt with changes.
I believe that if we learn how to use AI, bring a human element to it and make sure we are clear and transparent with the people around us, AI augmentation will take humanity forwards, leading to increased wellbeing and flourishing. Yes, there will be challenges to overcome, but this is what humans do best, use our intelligence to solve problems and find ways forward.
