Artificial Intelligence has taken the world by a storm in the last two years and for your business to truly harness its potential, there are a few things you need to do to prepare for it. Let’s discuss how to ensure your business is AI-ready, and set up for success.
Executive Summary
- Audit your data and metadata, and complete a full cleanse
- Ensure you create an open and honest dialogue with your staff – culture is vital to any change management process
- Develop a training plan to upskill staff to enable them to fully utilise AI, and select ambassadors to create enthusiasm for the AI rollout
- Articulate your vision – define and communicate your AI vision
Data: The Cornerstone of Effective AI
Clean and structured data is crucial for successful AI implementation and ongoing functionality. AI relies on and uses the data in your system(s) to be able to create accurate and relevant responses. It’s therefore important to make sure you:
- Audit your data for missing/incomplete/inaccurate data
- Audit your metadata – are all of your Help Text and Descriptions filled out for each field as an example?
- Set up a recurring audit with your team for ongoing maintenance of your data too!
Ensuring the integrity of your data and metadata will lead to much better and more predictable outcomes.
Completing a thorough review of your data and metadata is recommended prior to rolling out AI capability within any system. From there, you can then cleanse the data and develop that data foundation to allow AI to truly flourish in your Salesforce Org.
Culture: Encouraging Openness and Transparency
Successfully integrating AI within your organisation extends beyond purely technical considerations. The cultural aspect plays a pivotal role in this transition. Before you implement AI within your business, make sure you’ve considered:
- Creating an environment that’s open to learning
- Developing a change management plan
- Being transparent – be open and honest, and encourage feedback
Building trust with AI is important, building trust with your team is even more important.
People: Addressing Skills Gaps
The essence of preparing your organisation for AI is rooted in empowering your employees. Before you consider rolling out AI to your business, make sure you have thought about:
- Identifying staff members who are passionate about AI, and develop them as ambassadors for the roll out
- What stakeholders are key to rolling out AI, and what training might they need?
- What is the level of overall AI proficiency? Review training courses and modules that can help upskill your Users, so the AI technology can be fully utilised by them.
Make your staff feel that they are a part of the change; personally and professionally, and show them how their development will help shape the future success of the business.
Why AI: Articulating Your Vision
Understanding the ‘why’ behind your decision to adopt AI is vital.
- What is your vision for AI within your business?
- Is it well communicated and understood?
- What is the underlying reason for adopting AI – what is your ‘why’?
Being specific is very important when shaping your AI Strategy. AI can be customised to have very specific characteristics, think about:
- What specific tasks and actions could your Agent support your staff with?
- What are the current efficiency issues you face, and how could outsourcing those areas to an autonomous Agent help?
The key lies in a focused approach. Tackle one area at a time and then evolve your Agent using feedback from the users and recipients.
