SalesFix commits to Pledge 1%

Shaping our business through philanthropy

Like any business, we love talking about our successes when they happen. Bigger clients, new avenues to explore, and more diverse, talented staff. What rarely gets mentioned in all the ‘bigger and better’ is how these changes affect our company culture.

At Salesfix, our culture is still evolving.

While we love growing our business, we want to play an active role in shaping our business, rather than letting it shape us. Every financial year, we reward ourselves if we reach or exceed our turnover targets. It’s always been a great way to thank the team, and it reinforces how we work together on projects bigger than our individual contributions.

This year, we wanted to go even further. So Salesfix has adopted and signed the Pledge 1%. As part of this, we have committed to donating 1% of our services and time to make a meaningful commitment to society.

Why Pledge 1%?

We discovered the Pledge 1% organisation via Salesforce.org’s 1-1-1 philanthropic model. This charitable arm of Salesforce has given more than $115+ million in grants and 1.3 million hours of community service toimprove communities throughout the world. In building on that, the Pledge 1% organisation invites companies of all kinds to integrate philanthropy into their business from an early stage.

Right now, we’re full of ideas! Our team is brainstorming job-skilling people in need, donating to charities important to us, team activities such as helping out at homeless shelters, or providing discounts to registered NFPs to help their organisations run smoothly.

It’s easy to get excited about philanthropy and making a difference, but much harder to implement that goodwill into achievable goals and solid action. This is why the resources and best practices available on Pledge 1% make it accessible for any company to incorporate philanthropy into their business model.

Our first pledge is coming up fast in October 2016. Most of our team are travelling to Cambodia for a week as part of Volunteer Building Cambodia to help build houses for local families. You’ll hear more about this as we go, and while we pack our bags and warm up our house-building muscles, we’re working to clarify our pledge goals and design and implement a program for Salesfix staff.

As part of Pledge 1%, we’re thrilled to join an impressive network of companies across the globe (such as General Assembly, Optimizely, and Yelp) that have committed to philanthropic efforts.

Our team is prioritising where our best efforts are placed to make our community a better place. We are still exploring how Salesfix will contribute, and are really excited about this new phase of our business!
